The Role

This is truly a hybrid role that combines hands-on web development with forward-thinking technical leadership. We're looking for someone who can not only deliver high-end, engaging websites but also drive our solutions into uncharted waters. You'll be responsible for leveraging AI and emerging technologies to elevate our client solutions, while maintaining technical excellence across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Innovation & Project Direction (40%)

• Oversee the technical direction and quality of major client projects from conception to delivery
• Spearhead the integration of emerging technologies (AI, machine learning, automation) into our client solutions
• Establish and enforce technical standards and best practices for the development team
• Lead proof-of-concept development for new technical initiatives
• Identify opportunities to innovate and enhance our technical offerings
• Research and evaluate new technological tools and approaches
• Guide the technical evolution of our service offerings

Web Development & Implementation (40%)

• Develop sophisticated, high-performance websites and digital solutions
• Build custom themes, plugins and functionality to meet unique client requirements
• Implement responsive, accessible frontend solutions using modern CSS frameworks
• Create seamless integrations with third-party services and APIs
• Optimise website performance, security and SEO readiness
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

Team Collaboration & Leadership (20%)

• Provide technical mentorship, guidance and advice
• Collaborate closely with design and project management teams
• Contribute technical expertise to client consultations and pitches
• Document technical processes and create resources for team knowledge-sharing
• Represent technical considerations in agency planning and strategy

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5+ years experience in web development with strong WordPress expertise
• Demonstrated ability to drive technical innovation in a commercial environment
• Experience implementing AI tools and emerging technologies in practical applications
• Strong coding skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and modern frameworks
• Practical knowledge of technical project planning and execution
• Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
• Experience establishing technical standards and development workflows

Desirable Skills

• Experience with JavaScript frameworks like React and Vue
• Familiarity with design tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
• Knowledge of AI service integration (OpenAI, Google AI, etc.)
• Experience creating and maintaining design systems
• Understanding of UX/UI principles and their technical implementation
• Knowledge of digital marketing technology stack
